Walsall Young Music Star is our annual music competition for young soloists who live or go to school in the Walsall Area
The competition is split up into two categories:
Walsall Young Music Star (Secondary)
Walsall Up and Coming Young Music Star (Primary - grade 3 and below)
Applicants enter the heats with a piece of music in any style or genre, but limited to a maximum length of 3'30". These will be judged by specialist adjudicators who gave feedback and select the finalists. The Heats are held live at Walsall Arena and Arts Centre during the Spring term (date tbc), likely a Wednesday evening (Tuesday evening as well, if needed). If any candidate cannot make the live dates, online entries will still be accepted.
Live Final for 2026 to be confirmed but will likely be towards the end of Spring term 2026.
Entries for the WYMS 2026 competition will open in October.
