The launch of BAS9 is just around the corner!

British Art Show 9 will introduce visitors to Wolverhampton to over 40 artists practising in Britain over the past five years, providing an insight into the most exciting contemporary art being produced in this country.

The School of Performing Arts Presents
Masterclasses – 2021/2022

A comprehensive collection of free, engaging performance and production workshops for Schools, Colleges and Teachers.

Workshops can be delivered at The Performance Hub in Walsall, or at your home campus. Masterclass workshops at The Performance Hub use our onsite state-of-the-art facilities, equipment and technology. All masterclass workshops are free, last 90 minutes and are for circa 10-15 students.

 Provoke British Art Show 9! Exhibition Tour and Creative Lab

With Wolverhampton Art Gallery & Wolverhampton School of Art.

Join us for an arts educator focused tour of British Art Show 9 followed by a creative lab looking at the artwork in BAS9 and exploring how the show can inspire fresh ways of engaging with contemporary art in the classroom.

Provoke BAS9! is a creative lab for teachers, art educators and artists for the design of participatory methodology and youth-led artistic projects.

How to approach and work effectively with Schools

CCS have Alex Jolly, Learning & Engagement Coordinator at The New Art Gallery Walsall, offering guidance to freelance artists and creative practitioners on how to engage positively with schools, how to build relationships and work collaboratively.
Alex will share her experiences and top tips, outlining The New Art Gallery’s schools offer, highlighting popular workshops, looking at pricing strategies and CPD opportunities, with the aim of giving artists and arts organisations tangible ideas and confidence to develop their own practice.
Alex Jolly currently coordinates a comprehensive learning programme, engaging audiences including schools, families and community groups. Alex was an art teacher in schools and has nearly fifteen years’ experience in museums and galleries and working with freelance artist educators and schools.

Artists in Residence is looking for artists from the Birmingham area with experience facilitating workshops in schools. We welcome applications from artists of all disciplines, but we are particularly interested in hearing from sculpture, mosaic, and 3D design creatives. Register here.

 

Creative Mentor Recruitment

The Mighty Creatives are recruiting artists and practitioners to join our Creative Mentoring pool, a pool of artists, creative professionals and creative practitioners commissioned to work one-to-one with children and young people who are in Need or in Care. You can see the callout here.  Deadline for application is 1pm on Tuesday 25th January 2022. We are recruiting from across the Midlands but specifically welcoming applications from Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Staffordshire, Lincolnshire and Dudley.

Kickstart Placements

Curiosity Productions are advertising for three new Kickstart roles with an application deadline of 24th January 2022.

Curiosity Productions are looking for a trainee performer to work with Cloud Cuckoo Land Theatre to develop performance for young audiences and they are looking for two Creative Project and Events Assistants to help coordinate lots of exciting events and activities in 2022, including:
- Concerts for babies and their families with BAM: Babies’ Adventures in Music
- A community jubilee celebration event in Droitwich Spa
- Creative community mapping in Wolverhampton
- Projects for children and young people with Cloud Cuckoo Land
- Evaluation of Legacy WM’s arts and heritage canal trail

Applicants must be aged 18 to 24 and claiming universal credit.

Commission for a Piece of Public Art

Handsworth Creative is pleased to announce a commission for an additional piece of public art as part of Handsworth Park Arts Trail to mark the hosting of the Commonwealth Games locally in 2022. 

New Commission theme:  ’The Commonwealth - here and now’ 
We want to commission a site-specific monumental Artwork in 2022 that reflects either the Commonwealth Games, the Commonwealth or both.

There is an indicative budget of between £9,000 and £12,000 for this single commission.

Arts Connect Leadership Convention Evaluation Commission 

Arts Connect are looking for an experienced evaluator to produce an evaluation of Arts Connect Leadership Convention 2022, 7th March including:

Attending meetings and liaising with the organising team to: 

•    Design and facilitate appropriate and effective online evaluation tools
•    Provide a 5 minute 'Reflection' on the main themes of the day as part of the final session.
•    Write up the ‘Reflection’ as part of the Evaluation Report
•    Produce an Evaluation Report
