The Stringcredibles are a string quartet of CBSO musicians dedicated to performance 'off' the concert platform and largely in schools. They have just secured Arts Council funding to create a new show that will tour schools in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Sandwell and Walsall.
Working in partnership with Prof Nate Holder and Casey Bailey (Birmingham Poet Laureate 2020 - 22), as well as composers and writers from diverse backgrounds, they create bespoke performances for more than 3,000 primary school aged children on the theme of migration. The show will follow the story of a butterfly, told through live classical music, urban fusion, poetry and visual presentations. It will be lively and interactive, encouraging children to engage with sensitive themes through listening, moving, and contributing ideas on home and identity. The project will respond to the Kindness Curriculum, designed to build empathy, compassion, gratitude, perspective, trust and self-acceptance (www.thekindnesscurriculum.com). Children will learn about how migration is relevant to their communities through data collated specially for the project by experts at the University of Birmingham. The show will tour schools in the West Midlands, in collaboration with local Music Education Hubs in each area
