Previous Rock 'N' Pop Events
Our Rock 'N' pop bands have many different performance opportunities to work towards each academic year, check out the drop down menu to see what our musicians have been up to in the past.
So far this year the students have had a few performance opportunities.
First was the 'Festive Gig' which was held in December in Auditorium 1 at Walsall Arena and Arts Centre. As always this was well attended by family and friends and allowed all our bands to perform in a professional environment, some were performing for the first time.
The second performance opportunity was our 'Rock N Pop Meets Jazz Gig' in March. This was a brand new event, combining both Rock 'n' Pop and Jazz. This included the Rock 'n' Pop band 'Oversight' and the Jazz Combo from our Tuesday Music Centre. They were also be joined by the professional and award-winning group, Walsall Jazz Orchestra.
The third performance event was our 'Song Share' which was held in April. Similar to last year this was a closed door event where our bands performed for each other, whether this be a complete song, new material or work in progress. We were joined by special guest Toby Smith who gave his feedback alongside our Rock 'N' Pop team and the bands were also invited to share their thoughts . This was a workshop style event but the students also had a jam session where Toby encouraged different students to get up and play.
